Cloud sync
Turn on optional full-book cloud sync, understand the per-client isolated encrypted backup, and restore your book on a new device.
Cloud sync is an optional feature that backs up your entire book to your own isolated space in the cloud and lets you restore it on a new machine. Acronix Books is offline-first: everything works without it, and you turn it on only when you want it.
What cloud sync does
- Full-book sync — your complete book is synced, not just a subset.
- Per-client isolation — each client gets its own isolated, encrypted cloud backup, separate from every other client.
- Fresh-device restore — sign in on a new computer and pull your entire book down.
- Offline-first — you keep working with no internet; sync happens when you choose to connect.
Optional and reversible
You don't need an internet connection to use Acronix Books. Cloud sync is something you opt into. Your local, encrypted book remains the source of truth on your machine.
Turn on cloud sync
- Open Settings → Cloud sync.
- Sign in to enable sync for this book. Acronix Books provisions your isolated cloud backup automatically the first time.
- Choose when to sync — you control when your machine connects and pushes changes up.
Restore on a new device
- Install Acronix Books on the new computer — see Installation.
- During onboarding, choose to restore from cloud and sign in.
- Acronix Books pulls your book down and opens it locally.
Moving to a new laptop
Cloud sync makes device migration painless: enable sync on the old machine, sync, then restore from cloud on the new one. No manual file copying, and the transfer stays encrypted end to end.
Security of synced data
Your book is encrypted before it leaves your machine, and each client's backup is isolated from others. See Security for how encryption keys are derived and protected. For point-in-time archives you also control locally, combine cloud sync with local backups.
