Creating your first company
Set up a company, choose its financial year, add your GSTIN, and understand the account groups and ledgers Acronix Books creates for you.
A company in Acronix Books is a self-contained set of books — its own ledgers, vouchers, inventory and reports. You can create as many companies as you need and switch between them; each is stored and encrypted independently.
Create a company
- From the company screen, choose New company.
- Enter the details:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Company name | Your registered business or trading name |
| Financial year | The start of your FY — India uses 1 April to 31 March |
| GSTIN | Your 15-character GST number (optional if unregistered) |
| State | Determines whether a sale is intra-state (CGST + SGST) or inter-state (IGST) |
| Address & contact | Printed on invoices and reports |
- Save. Acronix Books opens the new company and seeds a standard chart of accounts.
Financial year = April to March
Indian statutory books run on an April–March financial year. Acronix Books uses this as the default reporting period for the trial balance, profit & loss, balance sheet and GST returns. You can open a new financial year each April without losing history.
What gets created for you
To save you the tedious first-day setup, a new company starts with the standard Indian account-group tree, for example:
- Assets — Current Assets (Cash, Bank, Sundry Debtors), Fixed Assets
- Liabilities — Current Liabilities (Sundry Creditors, Duties & Taxes), Loans
- Income — Sales Accounts, Direct & Indirect Income
- Expenses — Purchase Accounts, Direct & Indirect Expenses
You can rename, add or reorganise groups from the masters section at any time. See Invoicing & vouchers for how ledgers are used in transactions.
