Getting started
A five-minute tour of Acronix Books — what it is, how it's built, and the fastest path from download to your first invoice.
Acronix Books is a modern ERP and accounting desktop app for Indian businesses of every size. It runs entirely on your own computer, works offline, and is built to be fast and keyboard-driven — while staying GST-ready out of the box.
This guide gives you the lay of the land. If you just want to get going, jump straight to Installation.
What you get
- Accounting — multi-company books, ledgers, account groups and ten voucher types (sale, purchase, receipt, payment, contra, journal, credit note, debit note, delivery challan and stock journal) through one shared posting engine.
- GST — tax categories and HSN codes on every item, the tax registers and HSN summary, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B with Excel export, plus e-invoice and e-way bill generation.
- Inventory — items, item groups, units, tax categories, warehouses, weighted-average / FIFO valuation, delivery challans, stock journals and job-work rates.
- Reports — day book, trial balance, P&L and balance sheet (both drillable), cash flow, outstandings and stock reports, all exportable to PDF and Excel.
- Security — your entire book is encrypted at rest with SQLCipher AES-256, protected by encrypted login, RBAC roles, idle auto-lock and a tamper-evident audit trail.
- Cloud sync (optional) — back up your whole book to your own isolated, encrypted cloud space and restore it on a new device.
How it's different
Offline-first, by design
Acronix Books stores your data locally and works with zero internet connection. Cloud sync is entirely optional and something you turn on when you want it — your books are never held hostage by a network outage or a lapsed subscription.
Because everything runs locally, interactions are near-instant. Lists are virtualized, so a company with 50,000+ vouchers in a financial year stays responsive. And almost every action has a keyboard shortcut, so data entry is fast once the workflow is in your fingers.
The fastest path to your first invoice
- Download and install the Windows app.
- Create your first company and set the financial year (April–March).
- Set up GST — your GSTIN, tax categories and HSN codes.
- Create a sales voucher — see Invoicing & vouchers.
